Dread Fascinator: Up Close.

Mmm so a while back I made a fascinator because I've always wanted one but was too cheapskate to lash out 100++ dollars for a pretty one. Naturally, when fascinator supplies were on sale at Spotlight when my mom was with me, I was like a contestant in one of them get-anything-you-can-fit-into-this-trolley-under-60-seconds. Except, there was no shopping trolley, and I had more than 60 seconds.

Obviously, my fascinator had to be special. Something that shouts: ME. (haha) So i decided to add in wool dreads that I rolled from Merino Wool. There's something about coloured dreads... they are to beautiful to ignore...*beady eyes* Maybe its just the effort that has to be put in to make them. They are tough little buggers they are.

Purple spotted feathers by Shamrock crafts
Maroon feathers from random feather boa
Wool dreads hand rolled from Merino Wool

Pineapple tarts and Matt

So after the whole Almond Meringue thing, my mom has been bugging me to make some Pineapple tarts in light of the Chinese New Year that is drawing closer. I took two different recipes to make them. I haven't tried them but my sister says they are good. So, go me!

They aren't terribly hard to make. They are up here because I wanted you guys to know that I'm not rotting at home (since all my friends are too busy for me :( :( JUST KIDDINGGGGG)

In other happier news, 3 more days and Matt and I will be reunited!! HUURAH! I am so excited. We're gonna go EVERYWHERE. Even the boring places in Singapore like them shopping centers.

Okay I know I've lived here for a gazillion years already and I really shouldn't be asking this but does anyone know where I can take Matt plus myself so that our impression of Singapore -won't- be this massive shopping center? Chinatown doesn't count. Unless there're some big secret(but awesome) place to go there that I haven't been to. On the other hand, places like schools and sweet cafes or random places like Vivo city pet store counts.

Need to finalize the itinery before he gets here. lolwut.

Dread Fascinator

The false eyelashes seem slightly inappropriate probably should have used a fuller one.

Also note my Monroe pimple. I love how my pimple always appear in the right places. :D ahahh

True Love

I remember watching this Singapore made documentary about teens; it was an episode about homosexuality. They didn't state whether they were for or against it but you could tell they were leaning towards the opposition.

I recall the journalist going up to two young girls on the street who were holding hands, eager to know if they were 'dating'. Naturally, they declined to be interrogated.

The journalist was obviously mocking them. When I was in secondary school, I held hands with female classmates. Not because we were in a relationship, but it was a way of showing that we were close friends. When we walked to the public library, students from other schools would yell out something degrading.

It is frustrating homophobia still exists because I don't think people understand that love hath no boundaries. A man can fall in love with an animal and pledge his marital vows to her and it will still be love.

Its not about the exterior, physical part, its not about anything; because there aren't any rules to true love.

A few nights back, I was thinking about this, plus the fact that some people don't get jealous when their partner makes out with another person of the same sex even if it was all in good fun. (Their reasoning being: Its not like I'll fall in love with them, I'm straight! I can never love a girl/boy!)

Having said that Love hath no boundaries, these people clearly don't believe in love either even if they claim to have no problems with homosexuality. Its like they don't believe their love can be real.

Chictopia.com

Not sure if any of you have heard and want to join chictopia.com. Its like lookbook.nu but a lot more elaborate. They 'group' you with people you think are similar to your body size/shape instead of comparing you to super hot people on lookbook where I don't really stand a chance against. They've also got coupon codes for online stores which I think is ingenious. But you'll need to have a referral code to get it.

So if any of you need it use mine! mwahaha

referral code is: AUTOPSYJUDE555

Have fun guys!

The catch up with Naddie yesterday was good. I haven't seen her in ages and shes too popular to see me all the time. Shes always busy with other friends. I have to book her early haha.

I went to spotlight to meet up with my mom today and she bought me materials for some fascinators. Got a whole bunch of ideas and even more feathers!

Cute peachie is cute. She is tiny. HA.

Custom Heels

I got a pair of white synthetic patent leather heels that weren't very comfy to walk in and peeled the outer plastic layer off (it wasn't fun!). I used Dr. Ph. Martin's Ready Tex multisurface paints.

They are my no means professional because these are my first shoes I've customised. They are slightly sloppy and there is always room for improvement but I am happy with the results!

I'm still crossing swords on weather or not to name them. ARE THEY WORTHY OF IT???

1900-1919 American ads.

I recently borrowed a book chock full of eyecandy from the library. Ads from the 20s.

Daymn you gotta love vintage stuff.

This is so cute. I love the separate text box of words.

GOTTA LOVE KELLOGS. The artwork is amazing and the overall ad is minimalistic.

Eek! A handsome man in an equally handsome ad. I'd buy The Beaufort for my man.

Another one of them classic, timeless ones.

Not sure what this is an ad for but it sure is a good piece of art.

Again, the separate text box + cute art = effective.

I love the simplicity and direct-ness of this ad. Its just so... blatant.

I could see this ad this year and wouldn't know it was from the 20s. It is timeless

Look at those bright lips and well defined eyebrows... on the man. It is pretty intriguing.

All images were taken from All American Ads 1900-1919 edited by Jim Heimann. It is an extremely thick book filled right up to the brim of retro inspiration. I AM SO INSPIRED.

Also, sorry about the wonky scans, I am obviously not dexterous with a scanner :(
